Meehan Family Pavilion (MP1)

MP1 is a 24-bed unit which consists of 24 private rooms; 18 telemetry beds and 6 Progressive Care beds housed within the unit.

The unit provides multidisciplinary care to patients 15 years or older. The most prevalent diagnosis for admission to MP1 include: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), congestive heart failure (CHF), pneumothorax, gastrointestinal bleed (GIB) cerebral vascular accident (CVA), transient ischemic attack (TIA), renal failure, pneumonia, s/p chest tube placement, thoracotomy, lobectomy, video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), hip & knee replacements, abdominal surgery, gastric-bypass and gastric sleeve surgery and general surgical procedures.

Regular services and procedures on MP1 are of the following complexity: ongoing nursing assessments, observation and interventions, medical administration including critical drug therapy, IV therapy and continuous IV infusion, dialysis, pacemaker therapy, chest tube assessment and care.

MP1 staff are given an in-depth 12-week orientation. BLS certification is required.  Dysrhythmia class, critical care class along with ACLS training, all which are expected to be completed within their first year of employment. As each nurse progresses, at the discretion of the manager, they will be trained for PCU.

Statement of Purpose:
The Registered Nurse maintains responsibility for the provision of professional nursing care demonstrated through the nursing process involving assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate a competent level of behavior in a professional role, including activities related to promotion of quality of care, performance appraisal, education, collegiality, ethics, collaboration, research and resource utilization (Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice - ANA, 2010).

Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

Certification / License: Current RN Licensure in Massachusetts. Current CPR skills and ACLS certification required.

Experience: Med/Surg/Tele experience preferred.

MRMC Differentials:
Hospital differentials are: $3.50 hourly for evenings, $4.75 hourly for nights, and $2.75 hourly for weekends.  All differentials are paid based per hospital policy.
