This is an AORN Periop 101 Core Curriculum program which includes 24 hours per week of didactic and 16 hours per week of clinical for a minimum of 6 months, Total orientation is approximately 1 year. After orientation, there is a 2 year commitment.
Statement of Purpose:
The Registered Nurse maintains responsibility for the provision of professional nursing care demonstrated through the nursing process involving assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate a competent level of behavior in a professional role, including activities related to: promotion of quality of care, performance appraisal, education, collegiality, ethics, collaboration, research and resource utilization(Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice - ANA, 2010; Perianesthesia Nursing Standards and Practice Recommendations 2012-2014)
Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Certification / License:Current RN license in Massachusetts. Current CPR skills. AORN membership preferred.
Experience: Must satisfy one of these: 1) minimum of one year experience as an OR Nurse or 2) RN experience and completion of a perioperative nursing program.
Hospital differentials are: $3.50 hourly for evenings, $4.75 hourly for nights, and $2.75 hourly for weekends. All differentials are paid based per hospital policy.
