Referral SchedulerApply Now Department MRPG- Administration Schedule Full-time Shift Days Hours 40hrs, Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm
The Referral Scheduler will report directly to the Director of Operations performing a variety of administrative functions ensuring that patients at Milford Regional Physician Group are scheduled for consultations with specialists and have the appropriate insurance referral in place to support the financial reimbursement of the visit.
The Referral Scheduler will be responsible for computer entry within our electronic health record’s software system to obtain referrals and schedule appointments.
MRPG Primary Care Providers will place referral orders in the EHR identifying which specialist the provider would like the patient to see. Once the order is in place, the Referral Scheduler will reach out to the patient and to the specialist office to schedule the appointment. If the specialist is a MRPG Physician, the Referral Scheduler will be responsible for scheduling the appointment directly in the specialist schedule.
The Referral Scheduler will put a referral shell into the work cue for the Patient Service Center to follow up on. The Referral Scheduler will verify that the referral is in place a minimum of two business days prior to the patient’s appointment. If the referral has not been obtained, the Referral Scheduler will work with the appropriate parties to obtain the referral prior to the visit.
Once the Specialist appointment is scheduled, the Referral Scheduler with put the date and time into the Epic software and send a note to the PCP’s office indicating that the appointment is scheduled. If the Referral Scheduler reaches out to the patient and the patient no longer wants to see a specialist, the Referral Scheduler will send a message to the patient’s Primary Care Provider for follow up.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Graduate and/or GED. Experience working face to face with customers preferably in the medical field and/or medical billing preferred. Candidate must possess excellent customer service skills along with excellent computer skills.
