Infections Control ManagerApply Now Department Quality & Patient Safety Schedule Full-time Shift Days Hours 8-4:30pm
Statement of Purpose:To identify and reduce the risks of acquiring and transmitting infections among and between patients, staff, and those who come into the organization. Functioning in a role as educator and consultant, the Infection Control Manager is responsible for coordinating and initiating all infection control activities related to surveillance, prevention and control of nosocomial infections; and applies appropriate current theoretical concepts to implement changes in medical and nursing practices within the institution to improve patient care and prevent infections.
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, epidemiology, public health, health care administration, lab technology or other related field. Masters preferred.
Certification Appropriate license or certification. Current certification in infection control (CIC) or will achieve within two years.
Experience Thorough knowledge and familiarity with healthcare systems and clinical practice settings acquired through five (5) years of clinical experience, three (3) years in hospital epidemiology/infection control and two (2) years management experience preferred. Evidence of developing and implementing performance/quality improvement initiatives in a clinical setting is highly desirable.Willing to develop a broad knowledge of pertinent accreditation and regulatory standards, including TJC, Medicare Conditions of Participation, State Licensing requirements, OSHA, MOSH and other pertinent agencies/organizations. Evidence of prior successful interaction with review organizations preferred. Understanding of the Massachusetts MAVEN system for infectious disease data reports.
